Why Definitions Matter Before Arguing
11 June 2026
Many arguments fail because people use the same word in different ways. Truth By Reason needs careful definitions before conclusions.
Words such as god, evil, truth, reality, proof, morality, consciousness, soul, religion and evidence can mean different things to different people. If the meaning is unclear, the argument may become confused before it begins.
A person may reject god while meaning a personal creator. Another may defend god while meaning an impersonal ground of being. A person may speak of evil as supernatural. Another may mean human cruelty. These are not the same claims.
Definitions do not solve every disagreement, but they prevent false agreement and false conflict. They help us identify what is actually being claimed.
Truth By Reason should therefore define terms carefully, especially where a word carries emotional, religious or political force.
