Socratic Philosophy

A philosophical approach centred on disciplined questioning, intellectual humility, ethical self-examination and testing claims for contradiction.

Context and scope

Socrates wrote no surviving works. Knowledge of his thinking comes mainly through Plato, Xenophon and other ancient writers. Socratic Philosophy is therefore not a fixed doctrine or sacred canon.
